What Is Interoception?

Interoception is the ability to sense and interpret signals from within the body. These signals are often referred to as “felt senses,” which can range from subtle sensations like tingling or warmth to more intense emotions like fear or excitement. It’s important to note that these felt senses don’t always have a direct emotional component—they can be physical sensations as well. By tuning into these inner signals, we can gain insight into our own needs and desires, which can guide us in making informed decisions.

The Perils of Ignoring Our Inner Voice

Unfortunately, many of us have been conditioned to ignore or override these internal cues—particularly when they conflict with external expectations or norms.
